About Valerian

A cultural manager by training. An artist by instinct.

Valerian Glonti combines artistic creativity with strategic cultural management. As a trained event economist with a master's degree in project and process management, he unites artistic vision, entrepreneurial thinking, and organisational expertise.

Raised in a family of artists and connected to the stage since childhood, he has gathered professional experience across the cultural and events industry as well as the public sector — particularly in cultural management, project development, event organisation, and organisational leadership.

Since January 2025, Valerian Glonti has been Intendant and director of the historic Theater im Schlossgarten Arnstadt. There, he is responsible for the artistic and strategic direction, connecting the house's history with contemporary perspectives. As a director, he stages existing works and, as an author, develops his own theatre productions, texts, and screenplays shaped by social themes and a distinctive voice.

Through his ArtHaus Valerian cultural and art agency, he also develops and accompanies cultural projects, curates exhibitions, designs artistic spatial installations, and works as a freelance gallerist.

The Creative Eye
Surreal collage — Valerian Glonti's creative vision

Behind every production is a director who sees the stage differently.

From a silver-masked spectacle of chaos and glamour to a show liturgy built around rebellion and desire, Glonti's work returns again and again to reinvention — the idea that identity, like theatre itself, is something to be performed, questioned, and rebuilt.

The Process
Valerian Glonti, portrait

"Theatre begins where convention ends."

Valerian Glonti writes and directs his own plays. His work moves between theatre and show, between dark humour and social themes. It plays with contrasts, breaks expectations, and never looks for the easy way out.

As both author and director, he develops every production himself, from the first idea to opening night. He's less interested in the perfect answer than in the right question. His plays don't set out to hand down an opinion — they want to trigger something.

Every production has its own character. Sometimes opulent, sometimes stripped back, sometimes loud, sometimes quiet — but always built on a clear idea and an unmistakable visual language.

Children's and family theatre is also part of his artistic work. He develops stories where fairy tales, fantasy, and the present collide. His stage worlds are timeless — sometimes playful, sometimes surprising — always with an eye on what moves children today.

Curious what he's building next?
